VoIP Radio Control Radio over IP or Voice over IP (VoIP) is a method of transferring analog audio over a computer data network. Given the popularity of the Ethernet based network, many companies and agencies already have an existing network or Local Area Network (LAN) / Wide Area Network (WAN) connections between sites with significant distances between them. The WAN connections can be used to connect offices across the street from one another, around the world, or anywhere in between. Possibly the best thing about these connections is that they may already exist. VoIP Radio Controller There are three distinct modes that the unit can function within. 1) It will enable connection between radio or console circuits and the Ethernet. By wiring the console to the back of the VoIP-RC, two lines can be converted into Ethernet traffic. 2) It will replace existing console connections to radios. A two-line console can be removed and the VoIP-RC takes its place. Once connected to the Ethernet, it will control the remote radio and will also monitor the radio circuit for audio and generate traffic compatible with other IP enabled products. 3) The final mode utilizes the VoIP-RC as a direct radio interface. The standard generic radio interface will be provided allowing direct connection to any radio and control of its channels. C-Soft PC Software Console The software console encompasses a PC based Windows program that enables a person to open a program and communicate using only their PC’s sound system and its connection to the network. It allows a manager who has periodic requirements for radio communications to not lose the desk real estate to a dedicated console. |
